 Coronavirus Covid-19 - Update

England has been put in lockdown from 5th January for at least seven weeks. Public worship can continue as before.

The Bishop of London, the Rt Rev'd Sarah Mullally, who chairs the Church of England's Covid Recovery Group gave the following response to the latest restrictions,

“The Prime Minister’s words tonight underline the severity of the situation for the country, as the virus continues to spread rapidly. At a time like this, the Church is here to offer comfort and spiritual support to everyone. We have a duty to care for each other, but particularly those who are vulnerable or who may be most at risk.

“The Government has chosen not to suspend public worship in England at this time and we will continue to follow the guidance and ensure that churches remain as safe as possible. The Government guidance on the safe use of places of worship makes clear that those attending a place of worship must not mingle with anyone outside their household or support bubble.

“However, some may feel that it is currently better not to attend in person, and there will be parishes which decide to offer only digital services for the time-being. Clergy who have concerns, and others who are shielding, should take particular care and stay at home.

“I would urge everyone in our churches to pray for those on the front line in our public services - the NHS and those working in social care, for schools and many others on whom we depend; and for parents and carers of children at this anxious and stressful time.

“There is hope. The vaccination programme is underway and, as Christians, we have a deeper hope in God that comforts us beyond fear itself. As we have been remembering this Christmas Season, even in the midst of our darkest fears, that hope brings light.”

Please note the highlighted paragraph. Do not attend Church unless you are happy and confident to do so.

There will be services every Sunday at 10.30 am and at 6 pm. The 10.30 am service will now include holy communion for those who wish to receive it. Those who do not wish to receive may either stay for the whole service or leave following the peace. See below for details. Masks or other face covering MUST be worn in Churches.

There is no specific limit on the number of worshippers permitted but it is important that social distancing is maintained at all times. However, because our area is in Tier 4 Covid-19 restrictions, worshippers should not mix with others from outside their household or support bubble while inside the building. Outside the individuals may meet one other person only.

We will be continuing to publish a Eucharist online every Sunday from 9.15 am.

We will not return to normal for some time yet, and we will not put either our congregations, volunteers or visitors at risk. See our current risk assessments for opening our Churches here.

Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website.

We are a group of five churches serving the villages of Tintinhull, Chilthorne Domer, Yeovil Marsh, Thorne Coffin and Lufton as well as the new estates at Brimsmore and Lufton to the north of Yeovil in South Somerset.

Our Churches have been a Christian presence in their communities for many centuries and we take seriously our responsibility for proclaiming the gospel in our generation. In the power of God's Holy Spirit we are eager to grow in faith and in numbers that we might serve God more effectively in our parishes.

If you live locally or are visiting our area we would love to welcome you to one of our services.
